Former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye on Thursday paid a visit to tortured Mityana municipality member Francis Zaake Buteebi who returned from medical treatment in India this week.
The former Forum for Democratic Change president said the tough man from Mityana has remained committed to the struggle to dislodge president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni from power.
“Hon Francis Zaake remains very strong and defiant in spite of repeated brutal attack and torture by the M7/NRM Junta,” Besigye stated.
He added Zaake informed him of how state through Uganda High Commission in India wanted to forcefully obtain his India manipal hospital an attempt that was blocked.
“Very glad to see him in high spirits shortly after another painful violation of his rights and freedom on return from treatment abroad,” Besigye stated.
Zaake was injured during Arua by-election campaign brawl after being brutally arrested and tortured by special Force commands that guard the president.
He was later dumped at Nakasero hospital by unknown people suspected to be security agents who arrested and tortured him in Arua.
Several people including Kyadondo East member of parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi were charged with treason after the incident.
He was arrested upon returns to Uganda at Entebbe International Airport and driven to his home in what the police said was preventive arrests.
