Musician Jose Chameleone, real names Joseph Mayanja on Friday amused revellers when he told Kyadondo East member of parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine that he abandoned People Power Movement because the legislator denied him big position in the pressure group.
Chameleone stated that he will not be associating himself to the pressure group anymore despite his earlier efforts and desire to join.
The two artists were on the same stage of Friday evening during the Chameleone Sabasaba concert which attracted hundreds of supporters.
“Honorable (Bobi Wine), you have like 10,000 bricks you added on the Ugandan music industry and God bless you for that. I left People Power because you denied me a big position,” Chameleone, the most popular musician of his generation in Uganda said in the popular Luganda dialect before miming part of Bobi Wine’s Singa and Kyerenga songs.
Responding to Chameleone remarks, Bobi Wine who had been invited as a guest performer at Chameleone’s show celebrating 20 years of his contribution to the music industry jokingly said:
“It’s not about politics here and I don’t want to scare revelers. However, I want to thank Chameleone before everyone here for his enormous contribution to the music industry. I also thank God that at our age, we still see each other. Gone are the days when we used to fight.”
The two spoke of the previous time when they were arc h-rivals in the music industry. They then hugged each other and sang Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga hit together as the crowd chorused in approval.
