Uganda main opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has ordered the government to unconditionally release the arrested members of parliament or suffer dire consequences.
Speaking to news reporter at the party headquarters in Najjanakumbi, the FDC party president Eng Patrick Amuriat Oboi says that majority of people are currently in detention are FDC and opposition supporters.
He warned that if people are not released within two days, FDC will mobilize its supporters across the country to join the demonstrations and force president Museveni to step down.
He warned the security personnel against torturing the suspects warning that they will be held responsible for their actions.
Oboi also demanded security operatives to allow those people in their custody to access their personal doctors for proper treatment as well as having unlimited access to their families and lawyers.
He urged FDC supporters to be on alert and respond in big numbers if called upon so as to liberate the country once and for all.
He also called on the international communities to impose sanctions on president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his ministers for gross violation of human rights.
He warned the military against beating protesters saying the new government will hold them responsible for the violations of constitution and human rights abuses.
