Minister for Internal Affairs General Jeje Odong has blamed the opposition supporters of Arua saying the act and conduct inhibited by the residents was criminal according to the law.
He told the parliament on Tuesday that interfering and blocking of the presidential convoy cannot be tolerated.
Odong added that security personnel have arrested the key suspects who fueled the regrettable incident that occurred yesterday evening as the town was rocked by widespread violence.
He clarified that all the suspects apprehended are in police custody and denied the allegation that military are holding some suspects.
He revealed to the house that musician Bobi Wine who was chief campaigner for Wadri is in custody as long side other law makers including independent candidate Kasiano Wadri Ezati.
He said the president was first blocked by trucker on his way to the campaign venue.
“It should be noted that earlier in the day as the president was going to Boma grounds for the rally, there was an incident where a grader, Registration number UAP 064R wrapped in red ribbons obstructed his motorcade at a place called ‘transport Junction Road”. Gen.Odongo said.
General Odong says the incident happened after the series of warning issued to the public against involving in the acts of obstructing the presidential entourage since it is against traffic and road safety act. He added that the suspects will be charged and prosecuted in accordance the law.
