I wanted police to arrest me says Besigye

Former Forum for Democratic Change president Dr. Kiiza Besigye has blasted Uganda Police Force for carrying out senseless arrests after arresting Suleiman Masembe.

Speaking to news reporters on at Nabweru Police Station where his friend Suleiman Masembe had been detained, the four time presidential candidate said police should stop acting irresponsible and partisan.

Masembe a resident of Nansana Municipality picked from his home by Uganda Police for hosting Besigye.

The excited Boda Boda Riders who had turned up after learning of presence of the people president’s visit and demanded to greet, take pictures with him were chased. All their 9 boda bodas motorcycle that were parked outside the home were impounded as the owners scattered to escaped arrest.

While appearing at the station to demand the release of his colleague, Dr Besigye vowed never to leave Nabweru Police Station until his friend and all motorcycles are released.

He argued, if he committed any offence by visiting Masembe, he should be the one to be arrested instead of an innocent man who only received a visitor in his home.

This forced police to unconditionally release Besigye friend and all boda bodas that were impounded were eventually returned to their respective owners.
