Kampala Entebbe express highway fence stolen, UNRA revealed

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has said that newly constructed Kampala Express highway had it fence measuring 500 meters stolen.

 

The revelation was made by Reubeun Tumwebaze an authority Director Road infrastructure protection.

He added that the tax payer lost more than 1 billion Uganda shillings so as to replace the stolen fence.

He explains that most of the lost fence was as are a result of vandalization by the local population who reside near the multi millions project.

Tumwebaze warned the citizens against the act warning that those who will be caught will be prosecuted in court of law.

 

He also asked the locals to avoid reckless driving and observe traffic laws while using the newly constructed road in order to minimize road carnage.

He revealed that the maximum speed limit while using the road is 100KM.

 

Tumwebaze adds that, there will be enough traffic police deployment along the road in order to arrest the errant driver and reduce the accident along the road.

 

“We don’t want to see the incident of Kampala Masaka on this road let the motorists observe the traffic rules. On our part we shall ensure that there is enough police personnel along the road.” Tumwebaze said.

 

Few weeks ago, a South African national died on spot after getting involved in road accident while using the newly constructed road.
