President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Saturday received a special message from his Burindi counterpart H.E Pierre Nkurunziza.
The message was delivered to president Museveni by Burundi Minister for foreign Affairs Hon Ezechiel Nibigira.
Nibigira was who was accompanied by Burundi’s Ambassador to Uganda Jean Bosco Barege and ruling party Secretary General Evariste Ndayishimiye applauded president Museveni for promoting peace in the region.
In January this year, Museveni sent a special envoy to Bujumbura with a message for Nkurunziza.
“The head of State of the Burundi just received in audience a special envoy of his Ugandan counterpart,” Burundi presidency said.
The team from Kampala that delivered president Museveni message to Nkurunziza were were; James Wafula Bichachi, Counsellor of Uganda Embassy in Bujumbura, Amb (Maj Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, the Ambassador of Uganda to Burundi and Hon. Philemon Mateke, the Minister of State for Regional Cooperation.
President Museveni who is the Chair of the Summit of East Africa Community Heads of State, has also been mediating the Burundi political crisis.
