Following the defeat of FDC in the recently concluded municipal election, reports have emerged that the opposition big shots are preparing to face off again in Arua municipality bye-election.
Sources within opposition indicates that, there is going to another battle between new kid on block the Kyadondo East member of parliament Bobi Wine and four-time presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye in the election scheduled to take place on 15 August 2018.
According to the sources Bobi Wine is preparing to throw his weight behind former Terego county member of parliament Hon Kasiano Wadri Ezati while opposition chief Dr. Kizza Besigye will support official party candidate Bruce Musema.
Bobi Wine who came out of Bujiri bye-election more energize is looking forwards to adding more win to his name so as to prepare his grounds for 2021 presidential campaigns.
Sources within the Ghetto president camp told us that Bobi Wine is fighting hard to have at five MPs in every region in Uganda so as to boost his campaign at the grass root level as he concentrates on nation campaign come 2021.
Kasiano Wadri though an opposition FDC diehard is contesting in the upcoming election as an independent after losing in FDC party primaries to Bruce Musema.
Sources further added that, Bobi Wine considers Wadri as a strong ally in the struggle against Museveni as compared to little known Musema.
Besigye on the other side is bound by party constitution to support official party candidate as the former party president and founder of FDC.
This will be the second time in less than a month when the two former allies will be on opposite side in an election is regarded as a must win FDC so as to recover from the shock losses they suffered in the just concluded municipal election.
Analysts said they losses FDC suffered was a result of their own poor planning urging that they wasted a lot time in areas like Bugiri and Kotido well knowing that they will not win in those two particular areas hence neglecting areas like Nebbi where they were clear favorite at the beginning of the campaign. FDC did not deploy any election observer in Nebbi giving leeway for NRM to snatch the seat with a margin of just 100 votes. Many residents in Nebbi believes FDC victory in Friday election was stolen by NRM.
Arua municipality seat fell vacant following the killing of Ibrahim Abiriga in June this year by unknown gunmen.
