On Thursday this week, police who had placed Kyadondo East member of parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu under house arrest were left stranded after the musician escaped and appeared in Bugiri.
Upon receiving the news of Bobi Wine escape, former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura could not hide his excitement and publicly expressed his joy.
“The said I infested police with “Kawukumu” (weevils) now am not there, where did Kawukumi come from,” the former IGP was heard telling his aide while at his country farm in Lyantonde.
Museveni who was long term ally of Kayihura did not take Kayihuara did not take the former IGP lightly.
“Even those who are responsible for creating a mess in an institution come back later to criticise those they left behind and become Angeles once they leave office. Whose interests do they serve? Why didn’t they sort the mess when they had the power?” Museveni said while speaking in Zimbabwe town of Bulawayo.
Kayihura was the longest serving police boss by the time he was sacked by president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni last year.
Museveni on several occasions accused police under Kayihura of incompetence and negligence.
