This year’s Airtel rising star west nile championship has been taken by Yumbe Heroes after a tough derby with Yumbe Golden generation 2:0 which was played at Gulu Prisons P7 Primary School Playground.
The two goals were scored by two promising players one being Junior Ofoyuru in first half and the other Naman Rwothomio in second half.
The best player and most valuable player were claimed by one Khalid Zemba Zemba during this competition which took 3 days in total.
Wyclif Assimwe the Airtel representative congratulated all the players who had promising careers and excelled above others as well as the winning teams in the tournament.
This tournament has been continued to be supported by Airtel Uganda and as a result many promising players have been scouted by big teams giving chance to young stars to showcase their talents like Farouk Miya, Kezironi Kizito, Martin Kizza Lubwama, Fazila Ikwaput among others.
Fufa representative Chrispus Kalibala showed gratitude to Airtel for their continued support for football, it should be noted that Airtel is the official sponsor of Uganda Cranes team.
Yumbe heroes being the champion of the tournament claimed 1 million and gold medals , Yumbe golden generation was awarded with 500,000 and silver medals.
